FROM THE COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE:
A Day in the Life, Monday, Jan. 25, 2010
Join
us in working with the "Chronicle" show on WCVB Channel 5 to
"Chronicle" life in our community. On Monday, Jan. 25, they want to
experience a "Day in the Life" of our church and its members. Grab
your cameras. Take some photos. Shoot some videos. Then log on to
the uLocal section of TheBostonChannel.com, upload your stuff and
show us what a day in your life is like. Record something heartfelt,
touching, funny or just your plain-old day to day activities. Think
of it as a video time-capsule. Post this on your Facebook page and
see if you can get your friends involved. The only thing we ask is
that you record video or take pictures on January 25. They may use
what you share on an upcoming episode of Chronicle on WCVB Channel
5. So... mark your calendar. January 25. Get ready to share a "Day
in the Life.
UUSC'S MARTHA THOMPSON IS THE GUEST ON OUR RADIO PROGRAM
Tune in to First Parish's "The Spiritual Life" program on WATD (95.9
FM) this Sunday, Jan. 24, at 6:30 a.m., to hear
Martha Thompson of the Unitarian Unitarian Service Committee discuss
the earthquake crisis in Haiti and how UUSC is helping. If you
missed last Sunday's worship service, this is a great opportunity to
hear how UUs are working to help Haitians rebuild their country. Or

IT'S TIME
TO RETURN 'GUEST AT YOUR TABLE' BOXES
Please place them into the green collection box
in the Parlor or in the UUSC basket in the office. Please remember
to complete the name and address info on the box flap and make a
check out to “UUSC” (no coins please!). Your donation of $40 (duo
$75) makes you a member of the only human rights organization with
UU in its name and buys materials for a woman in Northern Uganda to
make her own groundnut sheller. A groundnut sheller helps to reduce
women's workload and generate needed income for families, as
residents return home after more than 20 years of war. Children and
students can become UUSC members for $10; Seniors for $20.
Contributions of $100 or more are eligible for matching by the
Shelter Rock, NY congregation. Your generosity is greatly
appreciated. Thank you!

caring members of our church community who are willing to lend a
hand to those having a difficult time! The Caring Connection can
coordinate meals, transportation, babysitting or visits to shut-ins.
If you need assistance or know
of a member of our church community who does, phone or email this
month's coordinator.

NEWS ABOUT GENERAL ASSEMBLY 2010:
The UUA has announced some changes for GA this year. Workshops will
be held on Thursday and Friday (no weekend workshops), and most of
the plenary business sessions will be held on Saturday and Sunday.
About 190 workshops will be offered this year. Other changes being
proposed for GA include reducing the number of authorized delegates
and making it a biennial event, rather than yearly. Read more at

NEW
FORMAT FOR JOYS AND CONCERNS
The Worship Committee is offering a
new way for us to share our joys and concerns during Sunday Morning
worship!
Here is the new schedule and format
information:
First Sunday of each month: Typically
a Family Sunday; we enjoy "Conversations
with Our Children” in lieu of
candles of Joys and Concern.
Second Sunday:
Joys and Concerns may be shared by
either lighting a candle in silence or using the microphone
and saying a few words.
Third Sunday:
Announcement Sunday
(generally no "Joys and Concerns")
Fourth Sunday:
All Joys and Concerns will be shared by silently lighting votives.
Once we have experienced this new
format for a few months, please
feel free to offer feedback to members of the Worship
Committee.
