Church school is in session

New families are welcome.  If you have not filled out a church school family registration for 2007-2008, or if you have questions about our program, please contact the Director of Religious Education, Sunsue Fleming, (781-934-6532 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays-Fridays). Or, come to church on Sunday morning, use the rear entrance (to the Parish House), and go downstairs to the church school. Someone will be glad to help you. Note that it is important to register young people who will be attending the toddler area through the high school. Also see the "Letter to Parents" (link above).

Schedule:

Church school is from 10:30-11:50 each Sunday morning through May, with a holiday break over Christmas.

Classes and chapel service are held downstairs in the Parish House. Toddlers should be picked up at the end of the worship service, before parents attend coffee hour. Nurturing Circle children should be picked up in their rooms promptly at 11:50 by their parents. Older young people will be dismissed to join their parents on their own at 11:50.

Attendance:

Continuity is an important ingredient in a positive church school experience. Regular attendance is urged and appreciated. At the end of the school year, in addition to congratulating all of our young people for their church school participation, we recognize "super" and "perfect" attendance. (Children are not counted as absent if they are ill or visiting another church. Parents need to notify group leaders).

FIRST SUNDAYS ARE FAMILY SUNDAYS:

On the first Sunday of each month our church family worships together in the Meeting House. All young people (3 years and older) attend church with their families for the first part of the service, then leave for their regular classes. Young people participate in the offering in church before leaving for their groups. (Additional Family Sundays may be scheduled).

CHURCH SCHOOL GIVING OPPORTUNITIES
Our children are encouraged to be responsible givers. Offering envelopes will be made available in their chapels. Please help them remember their Sunday morning offerings. Our Church School Offerings are used in two ways:
    1. On Family Sundays our offerings are given in support of the church.

    2. On other Sundays our offerings are given in support of Heifer International. This nonprofit organization sends food-producing animals to hungry families at home and abroad. Their motto is "A helping hand — not a handout!"

Other giving opportunities include:
n      Heifer International Hunger Walk
n      Thanksgiving "Bag of Blessings" -- our annual collection of canned goods
n      "Guest At Your Table" project of the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee
n
Our Christmas Mitten Tree -- mittens, gloves and caps are collected for the homeless.
n      Heifer International Lenten Project
